Michelle Hill
Michelle Hill was born into a farming community in Branchville, New Jersey, in 1969. She is an American painter known for her work on copper. Combining traditional techniques on a nontraditional surface, Hill uses copper to bring out the translucent qualities of oil paint.
After graduating high school, she studied fine arts at a local community college, then applied to Parsons School of Design, where she received a scholarship in the illustration department. After Parsons, Hill attended Teachers College, Columbia University, receiving an MA in art education.
Hill teaches visual art at PS 199, a public school on the Upper West Side in New York City. Hill has been exhibiting since 1994. Her work is included in many private and public collections.
